Xelius DRS
Facing Headwinds
Taming the wind
The wind, the element we love or hate depending on whether it is on our back or in our face. An invisible force, inherent to cycling, that everyone has to tame at every outing, training session and competition. Domesticating it becomes a reality with the brand new Lapierre Xelius DRS road bike. Because this born competitor does not neglect the air: it tames it, understands it and dances with it to the point of offering only the sensation of a carrying and... powerful breeze. Uphill, downhill or on plateaus where a stubborn wind blows, this bike ignores the gusts and offers a new unique force: high performance.
Sleeker, more rigid and more aerodynamic than its predecessors, the Xelius DRS reduces disturbances to silence thanks to a carbon lay-up technology combining craftsmanship, innovation and lightness. This new bombshell actually merges the two historic Lapierre competition models – the Xelius SL and the Aircode DRS – into a single racier, more playful and more accomplished version. This alliance takes the best of each model and is a condensation of many professional victories. Now, it’s just waiting for you to face the headwinds!
The most successful competitor
When beating its climbing records, getting ahead in a race or coming down the road like a cannonball, the Xelius DRS responds with extreme precision. All the details have been optimised in this direction, starting with the 3D Tubular technology - now switched to flat tubes - which frees the entire seat post, allowing it to bend throughout its entire length. This new shape exudes a new playful and aggressive spirit for a competition bike: the shorter chainstays also confirm this change of course to perfection.
Above all, this machine brings the solution on the flat with its more upright saddle angle, allowing the athlete to think of only one thing: he attack. The three letters ‘DRS’ or Drag Reduction System also corroborate this idea that headwinds are no longer a brake on your progress. Even going downhill, the machine's behaviour makes you feel safe thanks to better weight distribution and extended reach (for a safer, stable posture at high speeds). Combined with the significant aerodynamic gain from the whole assembly, you get a marvel of speed, precision and comfort!

Thibaut Pinot
The legacy of surpassing yourself
Like the FDJ Suez women’s professional team or Thibaut Pinot – a Lapierre ambassador – the Xelius DRS is inspired by competitive cycling. However, far from being exclusive, it is aimed above all at those who wish to reach their own peak. An upcoming cycling race? Climbing a hill known to be difficult ? Beating your record number of kilometres in a day? Count on the Xelius DRS to accompany you in your wildest challenges, including on broken or paved roads (compatible with tyres up to 32mm in cross-section).
A bike worth its weight in gold
Wednesday 31 July 2024, Paris. Cassandre Beaugrand dives into the Seine to compete and then gets out of the water to mount her Xelius DRS SO Edition. 1 hour and 54 minutes of effort later, she triumphs on the Pont Alexandre III, bringing France its first gold medal in the history of the Olympic triathlon. That day, thanks to her, our Xelius DRS became part of the Olympics legend in a big way. A gold-adorned bike and an unforgettable feat that highlights the obsessive work carried out by the athlete and our Lapierre engineers.
In the Silverstone wind tunnel, with its state-of-the-art air flows, all parameters have been studied, modulated and reworked to minimise aerodynamic drag. Improvements expressed in figures with almost 15 watts saved at high speeds (50 km/h) by comparison with our previous Xelius SL and Aircode DRS models, i.e. 8 seconds saved every 10 kilometres. By finishing 6 seconds ahead of the second place rider in Paris, there is no doubt that these marginal gains are golden!
